The asana practice includes hundreds of postures, each with advanced options and variations. How can we remember the optimal alignment in each pose and for every part of our body in order to stay safe and receive the most benefit? By understanding that alignment principles are universal!

In this workshop you will learn the foundational principles of alignment which underlie all asana, so that whatever level of physical ability you are currently at in yoga, you can comfortably advance to a deeper place.

DIVING DEEPER: SEQUENCING A FANTASTIC VINYASA PRACTICE

The asana practice includes hundreds of postures, each with advanced options and variations. How can we sequence the poses in a way that is safe and provides the greatest benefit? By understanding what each movement and posture catalyzes energetically, muscularly, skeletaly and in the organ body!

In this workshop you will learn the purpose of different categories of asana and how to sequence them together in order to feel open, balanced and relaxed. Whatever level of physical ability you are currently at in yoga, sequencing well can comfortably advance you to a deeper place.

DIVING DEEPER: BUILDING A HOME RESTORATIVE PRACTICE

The restorative practice provides us with profound effects to both the organ body and the nervous system. Restorative yoga is easy to integrate into our frenetic lives if we know how and helps calm our minds and balance our bodies.

In this workshop you will learn the foundational principles of restorative yoga, how alignment subtly shifts from an active to a quiet practice, how to cultivate the environment optimal to feel the effects of restorative yoga and how to sequence your postures effectively.

DIVING DEEPER: SPRING HEART OPENING

Spring is the perfect season for opening our hearts.  The thoracic spine behind the heart center typically gathers tension throughout the cold winter months and bleak stressful days, yet in spring we can use the season’s warmth to thaw open our hearts into gentle and even deep backbends. Heart openers rejuvenate our lymphatic systems, increase lung capacity and restore an ease and vitality to our nervous systems. They crack open the heart and throat chakras, which are the gateways to harmonious relationships and healthy communication.

In this workshop we will take the time to slowly coax open our hearts through breath, sound, stillness and movement and observe how our open hearts shift our practice.

DIVING DEEPER: THE TRICK TO ARM BALANCES AND INVERSIONS

Inversions and arm balances, such as head stand and crow pose, may seem like a magic trick that only super strong bodies can achieve. They are not! The trick to achieving the vast benefits of these postures comes from alignment.

In this workshop you will learn the basic alignment principles needed to attain this kind of posture, as well as some different ways in which to approach the many arm balances and inversions available to us.
